Geospatial Information, Technology, and Services (GITS) Professional Development Program
The Geospatial Information, Technology, and Services (GITS) Professional Development Program is designed to facilitate and enhance GITS professional development in the Gulf and MENA regions. The program is not designed to replace current GITS training and educational services offered in the regions but to complement these programs especially in the area of professional development.
The GITS Professional Development Program Vision:
“the delivery of GITS professional development programs that will significantly contribute to the growth of Geospatial-intelligence in the Gulf and MENA regions; thus, fostering geospatial enhancement of the regions’ environmental activities, economic growth, and quality of life.”
This vision is expected to be achieved through the program’s main mission which is to:
“Develop and deliver regionally oriented and internationally accredited GITS professional development training and services that will strengthen the development of GITS professionals throughout the regions through the facilitation of Professional Certification and continuous professional development”
Within the program there are a number of well crafted strategic goals and objectives all aimed at supporting the mission of growing GITS professional development within the regions. These goals and objectives are highlighted in the services offered by the program.
Partners
GPC GIS through its GITS Professional Development program is partnering with a number of international, regional, and local organizations to deliver GITS professional development services and facilitate GITS professional certification in the Gulf and MENA regions. GPC GIS will work with its partners to guide GITS personnel in the regions in becoming certified professionals (under the international certification program GISP*), as well as, deliver and facilitating delivery of GITS training to support certification and professional development in general.
GPC GIS has fostered partnerships with a number of international organizations to grow the application of GITS in the MENA region through GITS professional development, training and certification. GIS Certification
GPC's education programs can be used to earn points towards the GISCI's GISP Certification. GPC GIS also assists individuals with the preparation of their portfolio for GISP certification.
GISCI is a nonprofit organization that provides the GITS community with a complete recognized certification program. GISCI offers participants from the first early years on the job until retirement a positive environment for continuously developing their skills, professional ethics, and personal well being and thus, greater value for GITS employers and the community in general. GPC aims to help GITS personnel from the region to apply for certification and to earn points for the application. For more information on GISCI please visit www.gisci.org
